Postbox
Digital Journaling App
A letter-inspired journaling prototype with a visual writing canvas, envelope animations, emotion stamps, and folder interactions.
Overview
A journal that feels like correspondence.
Postbox explores how a diary can feel more personal when an entry becomes a letter. Its SwiftUI prototype brings together a writing canvas, emotion stamps, illustrated envelopes, and folder interactions. The current build focuses on that experience; journal persistence is still scaffolded.
Engineering decisions
- Envelope open/close/seal animations
- Emotion stamp selection and writing canvas
- Feature-based SwiftUI structure with AppFactory and SwiftData scaffolding

A closer look
Behind the build.
A personal ritual can be lost in a generic editor.
Postbox approaches journaling as correspondence. Writing, choosing an emotion stamp, and closing a letter give an entry a beginning and an ending, making the interface feel closer to sending a note to yourself than filling in a form.
Make the letter metaphor interactive.
The SwiftUI prototype includes a paper-like editing canvas, illustrated envelope states, sealing animation, and a folder interface for collections of letters. These screens are arranged as features, with shared components for the visual language and interactions.
The experience comes before persistence.
The repository wires up a SwiftData model container, an AppFactory, and a journal repository, but the Journal model and repository do not yet implement saved entries. Postbox is shown here as an interaction prototype; durable journal storage remains a separate implementation step.
